While writing and publishing the Fat Tire Flyer, I also contributed articles for other cycling magazines such as Dirt Rag, Bicycling, Bicycle Guide, Cyclist, and bicycle magazines in other countries. After the Fat Tire Flyer went out of print, I accepted an editorial position from Rodale Press.

This is my second magazine sale, in 1979 to a new magazine that was in the process of changing its name from Mariah to Outside.
In 1990 Mammoth Mountain hosted one of two “World Mountain Bike Championships” held that year, this being the NORBA version.
The organizers asked me to write a brief history of mountain bike racing for the program. Here it is.
In 1987 I covered the first “Iditabike” race. Here is my article entitled “The Brotherhood of Pain.”
