SO! FRIGGIN’! COOL!! In the complete absence of a print (or “e”) mag that doesn’t bore me out of my gourd with excessive bro bling & motorcycle worship – I’ve been rereading my Dirt Rag collection. Complete from about 2010. And man…, things have changed so liitle between then & now. The basic wisdoms & wonder of riding bikes offroad, are still with us. So I am very excited to see how things were in that time even before I procured my first official MTB the summer of ’84. I was 31, and amped out of my mind to ride the McKenzie River Trail with my buds on that fully rigid 9spd – even when we knew that snow would limit our distance during so many cold wet winter days. Good times. Still hard at it. I am SOOOO looking forward to read about the early days of mountain biking – when it was new & fresh, and more about the ride, the adventure, and the fellowship of great friends. THANKS CHARLIE!
Preach the truth brother! First ride a HK II Gary Fisher rigid frame and SO many years later my stable of 6 bikes all hand built and hand assembled provide smooth cool rides and trail pounding FUN whenever I get them out! My rigid RETRO-TEC brazed by Curt Englis(?) back in the day of Bob Seals and his Cool Tool fame. The bike was painted by Russ Wheeler of Air Art with beautiful purple and blue flames licking the top and down tubes. Phil Wood hubs spin butter. Keep on keeping on Charlie
