I would like to call attention here to Alan Bonds’ Clunker website.
Alan shared the house at 32 Humboldt in San Anselmo with Gery Fisher and me, and is responsible for assembling some of the most beautiful “clunkers” ever. No two are alike, because each is a separate creation.
There are now dozens of “tribute clunkers” for every one of the few dozen originals. The soul of this hybrid bicycle has captured the imaginations of bicyclists who did not take part in that wonderful, incredibly brief era of mountain biking, and some will spend a considerable sum to re-create one.
